 FLSA Classification: Laborer 

 Overtime Status:  Non- Exempt 

Braen Stone Industries, the leading supplier of construction materials including stone, sand, asphalt, septic materials, recycled materials and agricultural limestone, is currently seeking a Plant Maintenance Laborer/Welder to join our Sparta quarry team. 

This position may be subjected to seasonal layoffs. This is considered a safety- sensitive position subjected to the Company’s Controlled Substance and Alcohol Policy.

We are a safety minded company and expect the successful candidate to be as well. This position is hourly, non-exempt from overtime. Overtime is paid after 8 hours are worked each day. Hours of work are will vary. After a probationary period of sixty (60) days, the employee will be required to join Local #472. Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided through Local #472.

Expectations/ Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

•  Perform maintenance checks through Pre-Shifts process 

• Weld equipment i.e. Buckets, Chutes 
• Fabricate catwalks, stairs 
• Mechanically inclined & ability to successfully climb steps
• Must be willing to labor in areas of need along with current maintenance team
• Must have the ability to repair plant equipment
• Welding capabilities a must!

 Required Knowledge/Skills/Aptitudes: 

•  Must have an optimistic attitude and willing to learn new tasks

• Must be able to read, comprehend manuals & directions
• Position will be cross-trained to operate equipment
• May need to operate smaller powered equipment similar to a skid steer 

 Physical Demands:

•  Perform all job-related functions at elevated heights 

• Repetitive stooping, bending, crouching as required to perform duties
• Ability to lift/carry at least 70 pounds unaccompanied
• Candidate must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

• Hours are generally 4:00pm to 4:00am, Monday through Friday and Saturday work will be required.
• Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
• Periodical exposure to high levels of noise, grease & dust
